If this is the case then you can try polishing the scratches out with a soft cloth and liquid metal polish (only polish the side away from the foil/label and try to only polish the scratched area) don't worry about removing scratches completely - start with the worst, then try the disk again - it might just work. First check if the cd is dirty, scratched or damaged.
